Silver Strikers took part in the tree planting exercise that Football Association of Malawi embarked on this morning along the Lilongwe River bank.
This initiative aims at improving reforestation and avoid land degradation, this has been done effectively with support from Lilongwe City Council which aims to plant over 25000 trees along the River.
Speaking at the event FAM Executive Committee member, Rashid Ntelera said “It is a must for every Malawian to plant trees as they improve our lives in various ways and the use of trees in Malawi cannot be underestimated as every household requires trees’’.
In the same vein and norm captain of the Central Bankers, Young Chimodzi Jnr took time to speak to the press and said “Silver is not all about football, we also have to look out for the environment which we live in and plant trees’’.
Silver was the first team to respond to the calls by the Malawian FA to come and take part in this exercise.
