
Silver Strikers emerged third in the Lilongwe Soccer Fest, after overcoming bitter rivals Civil Service United in a 5 goal-thriller at the Silver Stadium yesterday afternoon.
Silver scored first through a Chisomo Mpachika penalty in the first half before Duncan Nyoni added a second to give a two goal lead to silver with five minutes to spare to half time Civil Service United equalized through Muhammad Sulumba to make it 2-1 at the stroke of Halftime.
Second half Civo was more confident on the ball as they quickly attacked, resulting into a Timothy Silwimba goal making it 2-2 for the most part of the second half.
Silver found the lead again in the 88th minute through a Stenie Davie penalty which was contested by Civo but later on it went on to be played and the match ended 3-2 in favor of the Lilongwe sky-blues in the Lilongwe derby.
Civil Service United will host Silver Strikers next weekend in the first league encounter of the Lilongwe derby of the 2020/21 season at the Civo Stadium.
