Government has said it is impressed with the progress being done at the Silver Stadium to make it one of the top-notch stadia in the country.
Macmillan Mwale who is Sports Development Officer responsible for infrastructure in the Ministry of Youth and Sports said the renovations are going quite well on the pitch surface and other areas at the stadium during a site visitation on Monday 28th September 2020.
Government has since started site visitations to make sure stadiums have the capacity to comply with COVID-19 measures to ensure the safe return of football in the country.
“In terms of infrastructure, the club is in the right path although there are a few items to be rectified”, said Mwale who was welcomed by Silver Strikers Company CEO, Thokozani Chimbali during his visit.
Chimbali said they are delighted with the return of football and the site visitation shows how serious the government is on sport resumption. “Nevertheless we cannot wait to play on the pitch once given the go ahead by the football authorities”.
Tentatively, sport in Malawi will return on the 17th October as training is expected to resume on that date, however, the league’s start date remains uncertain.
