10 months after being injured Trevor Kalema has finally been certified fit for action this week should football resume in the country. Kalema a Silver Strikers defender has been out of action since November 2019.
After Kabwe came in the country last February to coach the sky blues bankers, the club felt that Kalema should go for rehabilitation as his right knee was still problematic which led to Kalema not to feature either for training sessions or friendly games before the suspension of football on 20th March 2020.
‘I will fight for my place as you know I am eager to play once it is declared safe and football resumes after not kicking the ball for almost a year’, said Kalema. He continued to say that layoff has made him eager to play even more.
Daniel Kabwe was pleased to have another the centre half, back in the squad to join his friends should football resume in the meantime. He however said it was not automatic for Kalema to be in the matchday first eleven, citing no player is guaranteed places in his squad.
Kabwe is yet to lead the Area 47 based bankers in any competitive match amidst the football suspension. He is assisted by McDonald Mtetemera and McDonald Yobe as 1st assistant coach and 2nd assistant coach respectively.
However the panel led Silver to 5-1 and 4-1 victories against Sable Farming FC and Moyale Barracks respectively in friendly matches before football suspension leaving Silver Strikers fans nationwide excited and hopeful for greater strides in the yet to commence season.
